New Monitors and Stuck Pixels

Multiple ScreensI have taken delivery of two BenQ FP92G 19-inch monitors from eBuyer for a dual-screen setup at home. The FP92G has both DVI and VGA inputs and comes with leads for both connections, which is great for the price.

Once I'd set up both monitors and booted Windows, I noticed that one of the monitors had a pixel towards the top-left corner of the screen that was stuck on red when it should have been white, and was dark when it should have been green. Looking at the BenQ pixel policy, it appears this is not a significant enough defect for the monitor to be returned under the warranty. Time to look around for a solution...

Jeffery.blog has an article about a stuck pixel on Jeff's Apple Powerbook, which he managed to fix by running a colour flashing video originally meant for the Sony PSP (the article provides a link to the video). ScreenFix and WikiHow also give advice on fixing stuck pixels on a LCD monitor.

UndeadPixel is a small program that will color-cycle the screen (allowing you to spot any stuck/dead pixels) and launch a small flashing window to position over a stuck pixel to try and free it. This program will only color-cycle on the main monitor of a multi-screen setup, and requires the .net framework to run. Dead Pixel Tester is a similar program that works with multiple monitors, complete with a 'pixel exerciser' to try and unstick those pixels, and it doesn't need .net to run.

I've still not had any success unsticking the single pixel on my BenQ monitor using these tools, but will keep trying!
